What do you look for when you choose a
holiday? Well, If you want sunshine, wonderful food, good company
and exciting riding on almost-empty roads with a wide choice of
motorcycles we may be able to help.
We have been operating tours and trips
around southern Europe for long enough to know what we like, and
we hope that you will agree with us. We offer guided
tours using the friendliest hotels along the way, free-format
holidays based here in St Remy de Provence, sidecar
training and classic
bike tours and workshop
courses.
Moto Provencale offers a fleet of new
BMW, Triumph or Royal Enfield motorcycles and Ural sidecars as
well as classic Citroen 2CV cars and older motorcycles, all with
GPS navigation. You can choose straight rental or a full holiday
package with hotels, transfers and full concierge service. Download
our 2008 PriceGuide
for more information.
Our emphasis is on flexibility - it's your holiday and we will
try to fit in with your plans. We are a small company and like
it that way, we take coffee every morning in the town and meet
up with friends and guests to discuss the world and plan our day.
All our routes and tours can be changed at any time to take in
special events.
On my holidays I like to be able to make up my mind on a whim
and decide between a good days riding and an afteroon by the pool
without having to explain why. I like to be able to ride at my
own pace and stop to take a photo whenever I want to. I like to
take my time over lunch but to ride a little longer when I'm in
the mood. I can't think of any reason why you would want to go
on holiday and lose that freedom just because some guy with a
clipboard has a schedule. If you want to visit somewhere we'll
do our best to get you there.
We recently had a group who rode out as far as Lourmarin, my
favourite little village in all of France. After a good lunch
they rang up and apologized profusely that after tasting too much
of the local wine they didn't feel safe to ride. We told them
to order another bottle and two glasses for us and we set off
with the trailer. After a very pleasant afternoon on the cafe
terrace we drove them home as they snoozed in the back of the
van. Not planned, but that for me was a perfect day.

Remember the movie "Groundhog
Day"? Well, our particular mid-life crisis involved making
sure if that ever happened to us, we would know exactly where we
would want to wake up. When we found it we had little choice but
to move here. All that remained was to justify our lifestyle to
the bank manager... And what better way than to spend our time saving
poor biking souls from bad weather, overcrowded roads, Gatso cameras
and partners with unrealistic expectations of a sunday rideout to
the seaside.
St Remy lies right in the middle of Provence,
30 minutes north of the Mediterranean. Home to Van Gogh, Nostradamus
and the Marquis de Sade, its population have learnt to accept
all manner of guests. With many restaurants and bars in the town
centre and regular events ranging from bull runs to art fairs
it's a wonderful place to base your holiday, both for biking and
sightseeing.
Hello David, Just wanted to let you
know we had a great time in Provence. We're planning on coming
back next year and doing few days each of sidecar and solo.

The Biking !
Yes, maybe we should mention that.. Using either one of our fleet
of bikes or your own trusty mount, we will suggest routes and kit
you out with a top-of-the-range colour GPS navigation unit. This
miracle of science clips to the handlebars and guides you turn by
turn through the day, pointing out the best cafe for coffee, sightseeing
points, our suggestion for lunch and even filling stations - guiding
you right back to the hotel car park on your return. Why not try
a sidecar for something completely different ? You can join our
daily accompanied ride-out, or choose from any other of our routes
knowing that you will never get lost and never miss the best of
the towns you visit.
What a wonderful week, we rushed straight
home and bought a BMW - see you next year !

The Non-Biking !
If you choose not to ride, or have a non-biking
partner, each day we have a trip to somewhere special, such as Aix-en-Provence
for shopping, Avignon for sightseeing, The Camargue, The Peter Mayle
trail or even a day trip to Paris on the TGV - not to mention the
almost obligatory wine tastings..
Wish you were here?
As well as our fleet of modern BMWs and Triumphs
we have modern classics such as our Ural sidecars for hire, as well
as our fleet of real oldies - BMWs, Nortons, BSAs, Matchless and Triumph.
We offer courses on renovation and classic bike maintenance for all
levels of interest and competance from starters to experts. You can
spend a happy hour in our workshops with the oldies or the newies
and take a quick spin on something old and interesting.
Sidecar Holidays
We are also sidecar specialists,
offering a full range of sidecars for rental. If you've never ridden
a sidecar before you may wish to take advantage of our half-day
introduction course first - its all part of the package. Provence
is an ideal base for a sidecar holiday with lots of quiet country
roads, and all of our sidecars come equipped with GPS if you want
a helping hand with the map-reading.
